OAG receives students from Lycée St. Alexandre Sauli de Muhura
The Office of the Auditor General of State Finances (OAG) on Friday, February 13rd, 2026 received 35 Senior Six (Accounting Option) students and their two teachers from Lycée St. Alexandre Sauli de Muhura, a school located in Kanyinya Village, Taba Cell, Muhura Sector, Gatsibo District in Eastern Province. They came in education visit to get an overview of how audits are conducted by our office.
The group was welcomed by the Assistant Auditor General (AAG) Mr. Aimable Nezehose, on behalf of the Auditor General who was not around due to busy schedule.
The head of the group, Teacher Kagabo Emmanuel, says"On behalf of the school management, we thank OAG for hosting us. These students are in accounting option, they also learn audit in class and that is why we brought them here to hear from audit experts. We think that this is a good opportunity for them to have such experience by learning from people who are in practice. For us we teach only theory and here you are in practice. Our students have learned a lot here. This will also contribute in their overall performance in national examinations. "
Talking about whether her expectations were met after education visit at the Office of the Auditor General, Elyselydine Usenzeneza, told our newsletter that “Basing on what expecations, I really wanted to witness the relationship between the theory I am learning at school and what they practice in real life. I am fully satisfied beyond my expectations. I was not expecting the auditors to take me through all the steps. All my questions were answered. I always hear people talking about Auditor General’s report, and I was able to see it today, what comprises it and I realized the link between theory and practice by comparing. I am going to work hard.” “I have never been interested in being an auditor but after this education visit and information I got, I might reconsider and become an auditor” She added
Her classmate, Eric Muhire, said “This is a good opportunity for us to witness a real practice of auditing. I am satisfied with what I have learned.”
“I am satisfied. Most of the cases in our classes we are learning through reading books and memorizing. We are grateful that today we have seen the practice of what we have been learning at school. It has changed my mind towards accounting.” Iradukunda Sandra, added.
AAG Aimable Nezehose, while concluding the education visit, commended the school for organizing the trip and encouraged these students to work hard and explore existing opportunities available in accounting field, for their better future.
