Auditor General of Rwanda appreciates delegation from Uganda
The Auditor General of Rwanda, Alexis Kamuhire, on February 24th, 2026 received a high-level delegation comprised of 15 people from Uganda, including senior leadership from the Office of the Auditor General and Honorable Members of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Planning, and Economic Development.
They are in Rwanda to benchmark on the various areas of interest at our office. These areas include: Legal and operational independence of the office, Critical link between the Auditor General and Parliament (PAC) to ensure audit reports lead to real action, and to explore how OAG, the Ombudsman, and the Judiciary (Supreme Court) work together to prosecute financial crimes and ensure the sound management of state finances.
They also wish to know the work and mandate of OAG and its contribution in promoting accountability, transparency, and judicious management of public resources amongst government institutions.
Auditor General while welcoming the delegation that was led by Mr. Stephen Sunday Kateregga, on behalf of the Auditor General of Uganda, Edward Akol, he noted “Welcome at our office. You will not only learn from us but also, we will learn from you. This is an opportunity to learn from each other and share our best practices.”
In his remarks, Kateregga, thanked our office for hosting them, adding “We are grateful that you welcomed us. We hope to learn a lot from you on various areas of interest.”
OAG presented to them an overview on the work and mandate of the Office of Auditor General, as well as its role in strengthening accountability, transparency, integrity and sound management of public resources in government institutions, mechanisms for monitor and evaluate the implementation of audit recommendations: achievements, lessons learnt and good practices.
Both parties have got also a question-and-answer sessions after each presentation in order to share experiences and best practices. The delegation will be in Rwanda from February 22nd to 27th, 2026 and will meet different institutions in Rwanda that are involved (control and non-control) in the fight against corruption, economic and finance crimes.
In this regard, they will visit and have strategic sessions with Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN), Office of the Ombudsman, Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) and National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA) on different matters of interest.

Later, on February 26th, 2026 Auditor General of Rwanda, Alexis Kamuhire, met once again with the members of the delegation led by Hon. Aleper Moses, Vice chairperson- Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Planning and Economic Development, in Parliament of Uganda.
He appreciated all members of the delegation who were concluding five-days working visit.
He appreciated them “for choosing Rwanda.” Noting “We have a strong partnership with SAI-Uganda and we have been exchanging best practices. We hope that the mutual partnership will continue.”
Head of the delegation, Hon. Aleper Moses thanked Rwanda Cooperation Initiative (RCI) for hospitality accorded and OAG for sharing with them experience.
According to data from RCI, a government institution which was created to be a hub for partners interested in understanding the innovative development solutions that have propelled Rwanda’s transformational journey, since October 2018, Rwanda received 14 delegations from Ugandan institutions from different sectors, with 242 delegates.
