The Deputy Auditor General concludes training attended by auditors from Mali
The Deputy Auditor General (DAG), Habimana Patrick, on 13 August 2026 concluded a five-day workshop exchange between Bureau Du Vérificateur Général Du Mali and OAG Rwanda.
During this exchange, the BVG Mali team had the opportunity to work OAG team on Information Technology audit matters, while also sharing experiences on audit methodology and audit processes.
In his remarks, The Deputy Auditor General (DAG), said the workshop provided a learning opportunity to both institutions.
“It is a great pleasure to join you today as we come to the close of your professional engagement and technical exchange with the Office of the Auditor General of Rwanda. Let me thank you for choosing to spend this time with us in Rwanda. Your presence has provided an excellent opportunity for our two institutions to learn from each other, share experiences, and strengthen our professional relationship.” DAG Habimana said
“I would like to express my special appreciation to the Performance Audit Team for the support provided throughout this engagement. Thank you for your commitment, openness, and willingness to share your experience with our colleagues from Mali. I also thank the BVG team for their active participation. Professional exchange is not only about sharing what we do; it is equally about learning from one another. I would like to emphasize something even more important: the friendship and strong relationship between Rwanda and Mali. Both our countries share aspirations for stronger public institutions, better use of public resources, greater accountability, and improved services for citizens. Our cooperation in public sector auditing is therefore not only professional; it is also part of a wider African spirit of solidarity and mutual support.” He added
Agreement beyond papers
The Deputy Auditor General emphasized that the agreement between OAG and BVG Mali is heading in a direction whereby it is delivering what is beyond the existing agreement between both audit institutions.
“I am confident that our cooperation is moving beyond the signing of an agreement and becoming a practical and meaningful relationship. The engagement of the BVG team is a good example of how our cooperation can create real professional value. Let us continue to strengthen the friendship between Rwanda and Mali, and let our two audit institutions remain examples of African institutions learning from and supporting one another.” He emphasized
He urged the teams from BVG Mali and OAG to to keep the communication channels open, adding “Let this not be the end of our engagement, but another step in a long-term partnership. Let us continue to exchange experiences, support professional development, and identify other areas where our institutions can work together.
José Pierre Félix Coulibaly, Head of the BVG Mali team, expressed appreciation to OAG Rwanda for sharing its experience and expertise in Information Technology auditing. He noted that the knowledge gained from the exchange would contribute to strengthening IT audit practices and building the capacity of auditors at BVG Mali.
“We sincerely thank the Office of the Auditor General of Rwanda for the warm welcome and for sharing its valuable experience and knowledge with our delegation, particularly in the area of Information Technology (IT) auditing. This exchange has provided us with practical insights that will be useful in strengthening our IT audit practices and capabilities at BVG Mali. We highly appreciate Rwanda’s openness to knowledge sharing and look forward to further cooperation and experience-sharing between our two institutions.” Coulibaly said.
The BVG Mali visit took place within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement signed between the BVG of Mali and the OAG of Rwanda on 14 September 2023. The agreement provides a strong foundation for cooperation, knowledge sharing, and capacity building between our two Supreme Audit Institutions.
