Auditor General urges auditors to embrace impact audit, reporting

The Auditor General, Alexis KAMUHIRE, has urged auditors to embrace the culture of impact audit and reporting in their daily work.

The Auditor General (AG) made the remarks while concluding a 3-day workshop that started on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, facilitated by National Audit Office-UK (NAO-UK) on the impact of audits.

The workshop aimed at learning from NAO’s experience in measuring and reporting audit impact.

“I thank facilitators from NAO-UK for having them during this workshop. We are going to put into practice what we have learnt from you. I believe we will improve and do the work that bring impact in our people’s lives.”

AG Kamuhire urged thirty auditors from different departments of the Office of the Auditor General of State Finance (OAG), who attended the workshop.

“I urge all participants to be agents of impacts in their respective departments. We need to think about the impact of our work and even report it significantly.”

Facilitators from UK have highlighted how auditing impact and reporting it proved to the public the worth of their work in terms of enhancing service delivery to the people, value for money and promote accountability amongst government institutions.

The Office of the Auditor General of States Finances (OAG) also shared success stories with facilitator from NAO-UK.

The National Audit Office of the United Kingdom (NAO-UK) has signed a bilateral agreement with Office of Auditor General of States Finances (OAG) Rwanda in 2023, London in UK. Both parties continue to collaborate to achieve their mandates.
