ALEXIS KAMUHIRE |Auditor General

Mr. KAMUHIRE is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwandan (ICPAR).  He became Auditor General following the Cabinet resolution of 13th October 2021.


He has extensive local and regional experience in Public Financial Management (PFM).  He served as Government chief Internal Auditor over seven years, a department under the Ministry of Finance and Economic planning (MINECOFIN).  His responsibilities included to coordinate and oversee internal audit function across all government agencies: Central Government entities, local Government entities, Public Enterprise and Government Programs and projects.


Before serving as Government Chief Internal Auditor, Mr. KAMUHIRE was a Financial Management Specialist in MINECOFIN and supported the implementation of the Integrated Financial Management Information System Project (IFMIS). He was in charge of change management strategies and capacity building.


From August 2015 to August 2021, Mr. KAMUHIRE served in Advisory Committee of the East African Community as Audit and Risk Committee member and chaired the committee in 2019 and 2020. The committee was advising the Council of Ministers of EAC on matters relating to governance, financial management, Accounting, Audit, internal controls and risk management.


From 2007 to December 2010, he served as Internal Auditor of a World Bank funded project under Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources.


His professional career started from March 2003 where he joined the Office of the Auditor General as Auditor and later became Senior Auditor, a position he occupied until May 2007.
