This Wednesday, the 9th of April 2025, the management and staff of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) and Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) gathered at Kigali Genocide Memorial to commemorate and honor over one million victims of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
This commemoration included a tour of the memorial exhibits, listening to survivor testimonies, and reflections on the history and lasting impact of the Genocide. An important moment of remembrance and learning.
The Auditor General, Mr. Alexis Kamuhire, emphasized commemoration as a time to honor victims of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi, comfort survivors, reflect on the Inkotanyi’s heroism, learn from the resilience of Rwandans, and reaffirm the fight against genocide ideology. "Every year, the management and staff of OAG and RRA join efforts to commemorate and pay tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, contribute to preserving the memory of this tragic history, maintain memorial sites, and play a key role in addressing the consequences of the Genocide through various corporate social responsibility activities aimed at supporting survivors," He added
Ambassador Vincent Karega, delivering the keynote address, called on all staff to fight the genocide ideology. "It is our responsibility to denounce genocide ideology wherever it exists. Standing united as Rwandans is our strength—the key to speaking with one voice and competing globally."
During the open discussions, both OAG and RRA staff committed to continuing the fight against the widespread genocide ideology that still exists in the region, and to denouncing any form of denial of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi through facts, legal action, and other appropriate channels.
