Auditors General of Rwanda and Uganda Exchange Best Practices

October 7, 2024: The Auditor General of Rwanda, Mr. Alexis Kamuhire, welcomed the Auditor General of Uganda, Mr. Edward Akol, who currently chairs the INTOSAI Working Group on Audit of Extractive Industries (WGEI). Their discussion focused on sharing best practices and achievements, strategies to embrace evolving technological trends, challenges, and mitigation measures to enhance accountability in managing public funds.

"As auditors, we need to embrace technology and find ways to conduct audits using digital systems, as paper-based processes are no longer necessary. Systems are now enabling communication between individuals, institutions, and governments with just one click. Let's leverage ICT in our audit activities," emphasized Mr. Alexis Kamuhire.

Both Auditors General commended the collaboration with other government agencies in fighting corruption, promoting transparency, and enhancing accountability. They agreed to continue exchanging experiences and collaborating for the success of both offices. Additionally, they discussed preparations for the 7th WGEI annual meeting, which will be hosted by the Office of the Auditor General of Rwanda from October 8th to 10th, 2024.
